Collection "Broken Damask"
For this collection, I started my search by choosing the theme "Vezzoli Gallery" and then analyzing the characteristics of the artist and his way of doing art.
Francesco Vezzoli uses various media, including the curious use of the crochet hook, which embroiders golden tears or blood-colored doilies on depicting its popular icons most popular film. But the most important part of its production is part of the video art, these works are often real or imaginary short films TV productions, as pilot episodes of television shows that will never go on the air. In his exploration of popular culture in his works are often found "pop icons" or "Star" of the big and small screen, frequently involved in various projects using bizarre tricks. His goal, as stated by the artist himself, is to "deconstruct the instrument of promotion," Vezzoli says: "I would like my work to be the mirror of the ephemeral media".
Leitmotif of his work is therefore a mix of high film culture and trash television.
E 'on this concept of contamination and mix of styles that will build my collection, which will coexist in a spirit rock combined with a classic taste revisited that makes references to baroque and ancient. My research has in fact continued on the study and elaboration of classic materials like damask in a modern way: I then resumed the reason that will be embroidered on jackets and tops with line nail, (leaders who represent the world of cinema of the 50s rebel with the likes of Marlon Brando and James Dean), which will be realized however neoprene to impart a sense of modernity. To them they will be matched pieces packaged with lighter materials, such as chiffon and organza, to obtain a contrast between tissues such different texture and weight; some (the first group) will present a hand-painted marble texture that refers to the sculpture and to the world of classical art, then putting together two very different realities just as sculpture and cinema. The leaders will also present accessories, inserts and finishes made with zip, to follow the rock mood of the collection, in the second group in particular working with the zip lines will draw on the facade of the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane realized by Borromini. The processing of the damask will lead finally (again in the second group) in a print made in stencil on skin with spray paint, printing formed by a drawing superimposed going to fade out and in which the color will be cracked to obtain an antique effect and lived. Also in this second part, which will present more sporting spirit, the belts are made with a strip of leather finished with zip that will be hand-painted the outline of the accessory.
All outfits will be combined with bikerboots, following the line of the "nail" of skin and style motorcycle, then getting a collection that points to a kind of young, spirited rock, irreverent, looking originality but which does not give up a touch of sensuality and quality of materials.

Per questa collezione ho iniziato la mia ricerca scegliendo come tema “Galleria Vezzoli” e analizzando quindi le caratteristiche dell’artista e del suo modo di fare arte.
Francesco Vezzoli utilizza diversi mezzi espressivi, tra i quali il curioso uso dell'uncinetto, con cui ricama lacrime d'oro o color sangue su centrini raffiguranti le sue icone popolari cinematografiche più amate. Ma la parte più importante della sua produzione rientra nella Videoarte, queste sue opere sono spesso veri e propri cortometraggi o fantomatiche produzioni televisive, come puntate pilota di programmi televisivi che non andranno mai in onda. Indagatore dei miti della cultura popolare, nelle sue opere sono spesso presenti “icone Pop” o “Star” del piccolo e grande schermo, frequentemente coinvolte nei vari progetti utilizzando bizzarri escamotage. Il suo obbiettivo, come dichiara lo stesso artista, è quello di “decostruire lo strumento della promozione”, Vezzoli infatti dice : “Vorrei che il mio lavoro fosse lo specchio dell'effimero mediatico” .
Leit-motiv dei suoi lavori è quindi un mix di cultura cinematografica alta e di trash televisivo.
E’ proprio su questo concetto di contaminazioni e mix di stili che si baserà la mia collezione, in cui convivrà uno spirito rock unito ad un gusto classico rivisitato che fa riferimenti al barocco e all’antico. La mia ricerca è infatti proseguita sullo studio e sull’elaborazione di materiali classici come il damascato in chiave moderna : ho quindi ripreso il motivo che verrà ricamato su capispalla e top con linea a chiodo, (capi che richiamano il mondo del cinema degli anni 50 dei ribelli con personaggi come Marlon Brando e James Dean), che verranno realizzati tuttavia in neoprene per conferire un senso di modernità. Ad essi verranno abbinati pezzi confezionati con materiali più leggeri, come chiffon ed organza, per ottenere un contrasto tra tessuti così diversi tra loro per consistenza e peso; alcuni (nel primo gruppo) presenteranno una texture marmorea dipinta a mano che rimanda alla scultura e al mondo dell’arte classica, mettendo quindi a contatto due realtà così diverse come appunto scultura e cinema. I capi presenteranno inoltre accessori, inserti e rifiniture realizzati con zip, per seguire il mood rock della collezione, nel secondo gruppo in particolare la lavorazione con le zip si ispirerà alle linee della facciata della chiesa di San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane realizzata da Borromini. L’elaborazione del damascato sfocerà infine (nuovamente nel secondo gruppo) in una stampa realizzata a stencil su pelle con vernice spray, stampa formata da un disegno sovrapposto che va a sfumare e in cui il colore verrà crepato per ottenere un effetto anticato e vissuto. Sempre in questa seconda parte, che presenterà uno spirito più sportivo, le cinture saranno realizzate con una striscia di pelle rifinita con zip in cui verrà dipinta a mano la sagoma dell’accessorio.
Tutti gli outfit saranno abbinati a bikerboots, seguendo la linea del “chiodo” di pelle e dello stile da motociclista, ottenendo quindi una collezione che punta ad un tipo di donna giovane, dallo spirito rock, irriverente, che ricerca originalità ma che tuttavia non rinuncia ad un tocco di sensualità e alla qualità dei materiali.
